Health & Wellness Testing

70 percent of all illness is lifestyle-related, and 50 percent of all medical costs are associated with detectable, preventable illness.

CRL has the ability to assess a wide range of chronic and acute conditions that aid in the development of specific action plans. We have a proven track record of finding diabetes, early stages of prostate cancer, high-risk lipid profiles and other chronic conditions. CRL’s multidisciplinary culture makes us a nationally recognized leader in laboratory science.

Lab Testing: The Heart of Wellness

Flexible Collection Options

  • Venipuncture Testing
  • DBS Testing
  • Microtainer Testing

Venipuncture Testing

The Gold Standard for Greater Insights

Only with greater insights are better outcomes possible. Venipuncture blood evaluations offer comprehensive, customizable analysis of health status. Tests commonly included in venipuncture collections include:

  • Lipids: Detects increased coronary risk through determining total cholesterol, HDL, LDL ratios and triglycerides.
  • Chemistries: Assists in finding diabetes, liver damage, anemia, hepatitis, kidney diseases and more.
  • Prostate Specific Antigen: Aids in the early detection of prostate cancer.
  • Complete Blood Count with Differential: Focuses on the immune system, including white blood cells, red blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit and other related factors.
  • Serum Cotinine: Useful in determining employee population tobacco use.
  • TSH: Assesses thyroid gland function.
  • Homocysteine: The newest independent cardiac health marker; studies have shown that an elevated homocysteine level is a risk factor for atherosclerosis

Our National Clinic Network of over 1,400 locations and on-site biometric screenings, make collections convenient for all participants.

Dried Blood Spot Testing (DBS)

Convenience, Not Compromise

Dried Blood Spot (DBS) testing pairs the convenience of finger-stick collection with the accuracy of lab based analysis. A lancet is used to prick the fingertip and the drops of blood are applied to the collection card. The sample is allowed to dry and then shipped to CRL.

This method provides a flexible solution to accommodate on-site group and at-home screening scenarios. The sample is stable at 28 days after the collection date and provides more testing options compared to point-of-care (POC) finger-stick testing. Many of our partners utilize DBS testing as an addition to on-site POC testing.

Microtainer Testing

CRL is pleased to offer an extensive menu of analytes validated on microtainer.

Advantages:
  • Higher sample volume collected (opportunity for broader test panels) vs DBS. when samples are properly collected according to Instructions for Use.
  • Whole blood collection, which results in clinical quality results.
  • Options for various collection devices, which result in a less painful collection compared to a finger stick.
  • Sample stability of up to four days allows for self-collection.
  • Testing run using FDA approved assays and instrumentation.

Fecal Immuno-Chemical Testing (FIT)

The American Cancer Society has lowered the recommended screening age for colorectal cancer to 45 years. For individuals who are unable, or unwilling to undergo a colonoscopy, FIT testing can provide an alternative screening option for colon cancer. FIT testing is utilized by numerous healthcare organizations to close gaps in care and improve screening rates among their health plan populations.

CRL is proud to offer FIT testing utilizing the Polymedco OC-Auto Sensor Diana.
  • This platform is the most widely used automated system for FIT.
  • Sensitivity of 92.3% and Specificity of 95.5%.
  • The Polymedco FIT test is a non-invasive collection that can be completed in an at-home setting.
