COVID-19 Research Updates & Resources: April 22

As COVID-19 continues to be top of mind, we are committed to serving our customers and understanding the virus.

There are many sources of information available, and we want to encourage you to read a recent article on COVID-19 testing from Good Rx. It includes a description of the testing types available, what they provide, and how additional research will affect test capabilities moving forward.

Relative to CRL, we are currently researching both molecular and serological testing for COVID-19. CRL’s molecular method involves an alternative sample collection approach which is ultimately amenable to self-collection. Our goals in the development of this method to improve the collection experience include:

  • Improve the sensitivity of the test as compared to other tests using deep nose/throat swabs
  • Circumvent current shortages in collection devices
  • Minimize risk to healthcare workers
  • Allow for professional and self-collection

We are working closely with the FDA in effort to qualify this test for Emergency Use Authorization. Additionally, CRL is working in partnership with industry leading manufacturers to evaluate and validate a number of antibody and antigen tests. Please stay tuned for more details.

We will continue to share research updates on this blog. If you have immediate questions, contact us at ILSblog@crlcorp.com.
